A BUSINESS CASE for Christchurch Performing Arts Precinct

Christchurch is a city on the move. Following the devastating earthquakes of 2011, reconstruction is in full swing. Building on the principles set by the Central City Recovery Plan, Christchurch City Council and the Crown have been jointly leading the development of the city's Performing Arts Precinct.

Following on from the development of a strategic vision for the future of the Performing Arts Precinct, Left Bank Co. led a week-long consultative and creative process to set in motion the development of the cultural and artistic infrastructure, in collaboration with award-winning architects Haworth Tompkins from London.

Left Bank Co. designed and facilitated an intensive design charette to work with the Christchurch City Council core team, Haworth Tompkins, Deloitte and key stakeholders to develop, test and refine the options for the benchmark design, to measure the options against the business case, and then to set the strategy for developing and completing the benchmark design, development brief and business case. The Council is using this documentation to proceed with securing funding and seeking a developer to transform the site.
