Waterloo Metro Integrated Station Development Bid Coordination

Client: Aqualand Developments

Location: Sydney, NSW

Year: 2018-2019

Unlocking the future of south Sydney

Brief

Waterloo Metro Station is a critical stop along Sydney’s new metro route, not only connecting the CBD to the south-western suburbs, but also unlocking the development of the greater Waterloo neighbourhood. This is a highly valuable yet sensitive location, in great proximity to the city, and home to Sydney’s largest public housing project, Waterloo Estate. Aqualand Developments, together with CPB Contractors, were shortlisted by Sydney Metro and Urban Growth NSW to submit a tender for the Waterloo Metro Integrated Station Development, delivering both the new station and the significant development above ground.

Approach

Left Bank Co. were engaged by Aqualand as an in-house resource to support the team in the navigation of the intensive bid process and delivery of the tender submission. As a small and emerging player in Sydney’s development sector, Aqualand required additional resources and an experienced set of hands to undertake such a significant and time-consuming tender process and manage a large consultant team. Beyond the day-to-day management of information, inputs and the tender requirements, our role included a focus on developing key sections of the submission in collaboration with the broader team.

Impact

While the tender was awarded to the competing consortium in late 2019, our involvement in this project was critical to achieving a design scheme and proposal that was positively received by Government.
