Putting a heritage asset into the hands of the creative community.

Brief

The Sydney Harbour Federation Trust is a federal body responsible for the care and management of many of Sydney’s most significant heritage and natural sites. The organisation has long been seeking strategic and innovative ways to maintain these sites over the long-term, as well as funding to support the objects of the Trust.

Approach

Left Bank Co. have been engaged by the Sydney Harbour Federation Trust to develop a number of strategic communications documents for internal use as well as cross-Government engagement. These have included vision documents to spell out the future of various heritage sites around Sydney Harbour and garner support from stakeholders, as well as internal strategy materials to guide the organisation’s efforts and actions. These communications materials had to incorporate inputs from previous studies, reports, and engagement insights, while contending with the specialist language of Plans of Management which govern the maintenance, development and activation of sites of significance under the NSW Environment and Planning Act 1979. The outcomes have been engaging and pithy document that capture the value of these incredible sites and ensure the organisation and its stakeholders buy in to their future potential.

Impact

The strategic thinking and careful articulation of visions and value propositions has set the groundwork to ensure that heritage sites on public land can be managed and maintained for future generations, while being viable and sustainably funded.
